Athena Capital and founder Dr. Lisette Cooper are honored to be included in “The 2019 Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts” list published by The Boston Globe on November 8, 2019, and in the weekend’s Globe Magazine. The Commonwealth Institute and Globe Magazine partnered to create the list, “to name the most noteworthy companies and nonprofits helmed by women.” Athena and Dr. Cooper are recognized for their leadership in advancing the pursuit of gender equality through values-based investing. The full ranking can be accessed here.

The Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts is a project of Globe Magazine in partnership with The Commonwealth Institute—a nonprofit that supports female business leaders. In evaluating candidates, The Commonwealth Institute examines financials, management diversity, and innovation and then ranked organizations according to the institute’s own formula. In addition to a 50% female workforce, Athena has published an academic white paper and thought leadership articles on gender lens investing and also launched a series of “Beyond Conversation: Gender Inclusion Now” women’s events designed to facilitate collaboration among women investors to influence policies and investment decisions, both at home and in the workplace.
